Marsha Thomson BIO

    Member for Footscray

    Marsha Thomson was elected to Parliament in September 1999 and was Minister for Information and Communication Technology and Consumer Affairs in the Victorian Government and is also former Minister for Small Business.

    During the 1990s, Ms Thomson held senior advisory roles in both state and federal governments.  Ms Thomson is a staunch supporter of women in politics, having previously held the position of National Convenor of the Labor Women’s Network. She is also a former Senior Vice-President of the ALP Victorian Branch and a former member of the National Executive of the ALP.

The district includes residential, industrial and business areas. There are extensive Commonwealth Department of Defence facilities in the north, two large shopping areas and a number of hospitals.
