John Eren was elected to the Upper House as the Member for Geelong Province in 2002, before moving to the lower house to represent the electorate of Lara in 2006.
In Parliament John served on the Road Safety Committee. His policy interests include economic development, mental health, youth issues including the prevention of youth depression and suicide.
Prior to serving in the Victorian Parliament, John was an electorate officer to Shadow Environment Minister, Kelvin Thomson Federal Member for Wills.
John has worked in a range of industries including the Ford Motor Company, where he was a shop steward and OHS Officer for the Vehicle Builders’ Union.
A member of the ALP for over seventeen years, John has participated in various levels of the Labor Party.
Born in Turkey, John migrated to Australia with his parents when he was a young child.
John and his wife Geraldine, live in the northern suburbs of Geelong, in the Electorate of Lara with their five children.
