Danielle Green was elected to the district of Yan Yean in 2002. She is the mother of two sons and lives in Doreen with partner Steve.
Danielle believes in taking action to build her local community and is a member of various local clubs and is a volunteer fire-fighter with the CFA.
Danielle is passionate about creating jobs in the North so that locals spend less time travelling and more time with their families. That’s why she’s proud of projects being delivered by the Brumby Labor Government like the Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market under construction at Epping.
Other job generating projects are getting our community moving like the $650 million rail line extension to South Morang - designed for expansion to Mernda, the $100 million Hurstbridge line improvements, the new Smartbus to Melbourne Airport and 961 new local bus services.
Danielle has worked with the community to secure funding for 5 new schools at Laurimar, Mernda, Epping Views, Mill Park Lakes and Merriang SDS and 5 children’s hubs at South Morang, Mernda, Laurimar, Whittlesea and Hurstbridge.
Since the Brumby Government’s election, hospitals serving Melbourne’s north are the best in the state. At the Northern and Austin hospitals we have invested in new mental health and maternity beds, new heart treatment facilities as well as the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
Danielle fought hard for one third of respite beds funded in this years budget to be based in Yan Yean.
The Brumby Labor Government has delivered new local emergency service facilities, including police, fire, SES and ambulance stations, in Hurstbridge, Diamond Creek, Arthurs Creek, Strathewen, Kalkallo, North Warrandyte, Whittlesea and Mernda.
For Danielle, like so many in her community the Black Saturday Fires were a profoundly life changing experience, she lost friends, fought the fires and comforted the bereaved. The rebuilding of her local communities is a deeply personal journey.
