Colin Brooks was elected to represent Bundoora in 2006 and re-elected in 2010.
Living in the electorate in the suburb of Greensborough, with his young family, he has a broad knowledge of state and local government and is actively involved in his community. Colin served on the Banyule City Council from 1997 to 2005, with two terms as Mayor and has also served on the Board of the Yarra Plenty Regional Library Service. He has been active in community groups such as the local school council and neighbourhood watch.
Before his election to State Parliament, Colin worked as an Advisor to the Minister for Finance, Major Projects and Workcover and prior to that worked for the previous MP for Bundoora, Sherryl Garbutt and other State MPs. Before working in government, Colin was a qualified electrician.
Colin is passionate about the electorate he represents and has a strong track record of standing up for his community, from helping with the Save the Austin Hospital campaign to fighting for the local Greensborough Swimming Pool.
From 2006 to 2010, Colin was the Secretary of the Victorian Parliamentary Labor Party and served on the Parliament’s Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee and the Law Reform Committee. In 2011 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition.
